About Me

I was born in 1958 part of working-class family of seven. I have lived most of my life in a former mining village Bolton on Dearne in South Yorkshire. I am married with two grown up girls,

My Art

I am a self-taught artist, and have been painting for about 30 years, and have been creating digital images for about 10 years. When I paint or sit at the computer I have no idea what the image will be, and sometimes that image can hopefully be thought provoking and some times disturbing. I do not think art should be elitist nor should it matter how it is produced, what should be important is what it has to say about the place and time it is produced and whether others can relate to it or not.

Influence

I have always liked the work of artist like Dali and Picasso Otto Dix, I also like old film posters from the 50s and 60s in particular the work of Reynolds Brown, as for today’s artist I like Tracy Emmin There is an honesty and vulnerability, which I admire. As a child of the seventies my main influences are people like Pink Floyd and David Bowie and Kate Bush. I also have a love of sci-fi, which sometimes come through in my images.
