One of my objectives is to create a composition that captures some thing or aspect in nature in a way that is sufficiently substantial but also figurative, decorative, and aesthetically pleasing where possible. My art serves not only illustrate something, but to challenge the viewer to think about it. Although most of my art depicts something that already exists in nature, its nonrepresentational features frequently remind the viewer that the composition is pure art and not nature. Even though the lines, forms, textures, and colors that make-up the compositions are there just as much for art's sake as they are for nature, they don't strive to depict it in a way that it is or should be seen. Like the subject that's frequently depicted in some context, a gallery or private room will serve as an essential backdrop for the canvas - non-artificial surroundings putting it the context of art.
