Self Portrait

Susan began drawing horses at age 4 on the back of her father's blueprints. School work often carried horsy scribbles in the margins. At the age of 12 she went door to door to sell pencil drawings for just 25 cents each.

Susan switched to acrylic and water colors when it was discovered her husband, Stephen, was allergic to the oil paint solvents. She has never looked back as her acrylic and watercolor paintings now hang in corporate offices of Cactus Saddlery and Baylor Hospital Hotel.

Susan's paintings have won several awards at the Paris Art Fair, where she has lived since 1978, including several firsts and Best of Shows. Among her national achievements is 2nd place in the Equine Art Guild Show.

After retirement from 27 years in the educational field, Susan has started a whole new sideline of designing custom saddle stands.

Subjects include horses, cats, westerns, pet portraits or whatever hits her fancy that day. Her paintings range from realistic to abstract.

Her art is now represented on a line of note cards.
