Born and raised in Taiwan, Mei Chang Stansbury began Black Tea Café Design in Houston in 2005, where she lives and works as an artist, graphic designer and children's book illustrator.
Among the Taiwanese artist’s influences are Asian culture, and patience of all simple things; her paintings are blended with her experiences of city sights, sensations, sensitivity to abstract of modern-style and ideas captivating compositions but simple impact. Her work is getting recognition through private buyers, custom work and local interior designers.
Mei has helped raise funds for a variety of humanitarian organizations in Houston area. She continues to seek ways to show her gratitude to supporters & communities and to the people and cultures that inspire her.
Her illustrated children's book is an award winning Spanish language children's book entitled "Leah Ann Adopta Un Perico" (2006) published in America, which received recognition in the 2007 International Latino Book Awards for "Best First Book - The Mariposa Award" and "Best Children's Audio Book - Spanish/Bilingual." Also recognition in the 2009 Mom’s Choice Awards for "2009 Silver Recipient: Children’s Picture Books (Age 0-9) - Developing Social Skills."
