I have been an artist for many years. I have a BFA degree in both graphic design and studio art. I most often do commissioned portraits in both pastel and colored pencil. For myself I enjoy working in many different mediums to see how I can combine them. Art is my way of expressing the emotions of the moment. We all have them but are often not aware of how much they influence the things we do on a daily basis. I use these emotions to lead me through my creative process. As the emotions change so does my artwork. The one thing that remains constant is the emotional response I hope to inspire with each new piece. Subject matter, though very important, is not always the focus but more the vessel that holds the emotion. Colors, details, medium and technique, with their relationship to each other and to the subject, become the interpretation of the emotion in that moment and therefore the drive behind the creativity. Quite often what started the piece is not what is there at the end. This journey, along with the viewers response is what I enjoy when a piece is complete.
