I am currently in St. Paul, Minnesota but I'm originally from Oakland, CA. What inspires me is the love of people and appreciation for our differences. I like to think that I make my portraits come alive by adding the different acrylic gel mediums. There are many portrait artist out there but what sets me apart from them is you can feel my portraits..... the hair, clothes, jewelry, background, etc. I also like to use metallic colors to give the paintings and warm glow.
I have always enjoyed drawing...I remember falling in love with art when my 3rd grade teacher 'Mrs. Dasie R.I.P.' featured my art work in the Thanksgiving play for the whole school to see. I got so many compliments, I felt so good. It helped this shy little girl come out of her shell! (kinda) When I was in high school I entered an art contest and won a scholarship to the Academy Of Art College in San Fransisco , CA. I was so intimidated and didn't believe in my talent, I dropped out...........and stopped drawing I was so bored at work one day I started drawing some of my co workers ...15 years later. Later that year, I decided to take a class at my local community college to perfect my skills. All of the drawing classes were filled so I took a painting class and again fell in love. After the class ended, I continued to paint. By accident I purchased an acrylic paint set and I have been working with the medium since. I really enjoy how versatile it is ... you can mix it with water to make it thinner or gel mediums to make it thicker.... I love it!!!! Last year I joined Fine Art America and Artwanted.com and created a web portfolio. It is there that I feature my work, learn more and am amongst people who do the same. I continue to paint family and friends and have added a few clients for a fee. A few pieces of my work can be seen currently at my first art exhibit at Normandale College in the Kopp Student Center until the end of February (maybe March).
