Artist Bio

Damon Holter is an accomplished artist who lives in hudson, WI with his three children. Growing up in the valley surrounding the scenic St. Croix River, Damon began painting at an early age. Images of freshwater fish, eagles and deer were among the first subject matter that he painted from scenes out his back door. The images Damon paints today range from wildlife to architecture and portraits. Damon has won numerous awards, including Winner of the 2003 Wisconsin Great Lakes Salmon and Trout Stamp Competition and many 1st and 2nd runner-up finishes in Wisconsin's pheasant and trout and salmon stamp competitions. The winning Salmon and Trout Stamp entry of a Chinook Salmon adorned in full spawning colors was inspired by fish Damon pursues as an avid fly fisherman each fall in Wisconsin's tributary streams along Lake Michigan. As a five-time world-record holding fisherman, Damon spends considerable time in the outdoors, always looking for his next subject matter. Damon's artwork can be found in galleries in western Wisconsin and is on display in numerous public and private collections throughout North America, including the Wisconsin State Capitol and government offices in Washington, D.C. Damon produces many images on commission as well as freelance artwork for publications.
