Artist Bio

Hector Geraldo Kriete was born in Leticia, Brazil. He lived in a three storied house located near a river, and the jungle as his backyard. As young boy the wild, and different cultures fascinated him. After a few years, Hector moved to Cali, Colombia and attended the school “Academia Militar Jose Maria Cabal”. Even though he attended a military school, his teachings were very artistic. It was there when Hector was introduced to drawing, sculpture, painting, and music. At the age of thirteen again he moved further up north to the United States. Hector lived in Hollywood and there he learned the art of graffiti. After two years and two schools, he moved to the city of San Pedro and began taking classes at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Here Hector learned the art of ceramics, under Patrick Smith. Luckily Hector had sympathetic teachers, and would be able to leave class to pursue his passion in ceramics as long as he would keep his grades up. This allowed him to put a large number of hours in the ceramics room. After school he would also stay in ceramics class, go work on a painting, or play music with friends. Once High school ended many choices arose but after a presentation by the Art Instituted of Los Angeles Hector had a clear choice. He decided to do what he was most familiar with “the pencil”, and to become an animator. After a year of being bored in front of computers and no fine arts, hector decided that something was missing and he went back to pursuit ceramics. Currently Hector is attending Harbor College where he has been exercising his true passion for over one year, where some how all of his experiences with all the different arts can be transformed into one medium of ceramics.
