Self Portrait

My name is Dennis Anderson, a 35-year-old artist from lower Michigan.

I went to school at the art institute of Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the 90's for illustration and design. I’m currently working in the advertising field as a graphic artist, but my passion lies with my artwork. I feel that my art varies too much to pigeonhole me into a specific genre or capability.

In 1991, I had my first professional gallery show in a fine art gallery on Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. I’ve built a fantastic portfolio of illustrations and design work and I have many years experience as a comic book illustrator and publisher.

In recent years, I have revived my passion for my fine art, and embraced my love for the esoteric and erotic art that I have recently come to know as second nature. Much of my recent works can be either esoteric or erotic in nature and philosophy. unfortunately you will not see my erotic art here.

To describe my art influences, I would have to say this: I am a product of pop culture, a Gen-Xer that embraces this connection to our culture and it's strange art. I am influenced artists from the latter 20th century and my fellow artists now in this 21st century. Artists like Dali, Giger, Alex Grey. And also those artist musicians that take chances (like the band TOOL), make you think and challenge what you perceive as reality. My work is influenced also by society, religion and theology. We live in turbulent times and I believe that the artists of our time are there to document this change.

You’ll find a wide array of art from me; from digital painting and design to detailed, morphing creatures that haunt our subconscious and remind us that we are human.
