The Concept of My Creations: In search of language

Life… Who knows what lies around the next corner in life, what new leaf may turn the next second, what new event unfolds before our eyes. Folds are thus intrinsic to the very nature of life. The folds in life hide a variety of emotions that unfold at the right times, making each of us unique.

My paintings depict the same philosophy by rendering the folds in a three dimensional illusion, which is apt, for life itself is an illusion. The intention behind this series of paintings is to create a visual impact in the eyes of the beholder. This is achieved here by having two layers, one materializing the thought behind the philosophy and the other blending abstraction with realism.

My expressions bear testimony to my vision of reducing art to its purest and most primeval state. My images, featuring blocks of pure colour, shapes and patterns display a unique understanding of light and shade.

Such images clearly affirm art as a spiritual discipline without worldly reference. These dense, all over compositions in masterful colours echo shifting planes of thought and also convey a strong feeling of spatial depth. These are calm images, expressions of a spiritual ideal unfettered by grand illusions about surface or intensity.

And hence, although my work may be considered an abstract painting, it has all the elements of realistic work which summarizes my painstaking study of the real folds that can be seen in the environment.

For me painting is an expression which starts from one's eyes and unfolds such state of mind which can only be experienced but not easily expressed. This philosophy guides me to create such paintings which need not carry any story to be expressed but have a great visual impact to be experienced.

As an artist I always channel all my emotional, intellectual and artistic energy into the creation of art.
