I think as an artist, I have multiple personalities, and they come out differently depending on the medium I use. For example, I feel this fabulous sense of softness and pure emotion when using watercolour. When I look at a flower, my favourite subject, I get the same feeling. Soft, transparent, and luminous, watercolour allows me to express the true vision of what I see. When I paint flowers with this medium, I dive into a state of meditation. I apply light coats of pigments slowly, one layer at a time, moving my paper in many directions to let the pigment mingle with water and do its magic. Some of my flowers have as many as 15 layers of transparent paint to create a luminous glow. I love the effect of dark shadows, which create the dramatic emotion I want to transpire. As for painting with acrylic or oil, it’s different. I feel a huge impulse of creativity with a need to let loose. Although I work with acrylic the same way I do with watercolour, meaning in many layers, the outcome of my work is different with a looser, more abstract or imaginary expression.
