Judith Monroe is a photo-based mixed media artist whose work has been evolving for over twenty-five years. Her artwork contains multiple layers of physical materials, representing layers of meaning; black and white photographs stand in for the physical world, layers of papers, found objects, color and text represent the spiritual world, “giving our physical world meaning and substance.” When not working in her studio or collecting images and objects on dog walks or road trips, Judith shares her love of darkroom photography as a professor at Sierra College. Her artworks can be found in art galleries from California’s wine country to Colorado’s front range; her pieces are included in public and private collections throughout the U.S. and around the globe.
