Self Portrait

when i was younger i used to always draw flowers, don't know why... but maybe because they're free. when i hit my teens i drew nothing but buildings... tall skyscrapers and little towns, with roads leading to nowhere. then i began drawing on myself, little masterpieces that would be gone by tomorrow. i won my first art "competition" when i was 15, the t-shirt design for my summer school program. in highschool 11th grade, i had my first real art class... it showed me that i could draw anything i wanted... copy anyones artwork with patience...

i found my "art self" when i was 20. i just literally drew what i was feeling... which resulted in my self portrait.

i use ultra fine point sharpie markers. i start out with quick delicate movements, like an outline... then i fill in line detail and shade in areas row by row. i normally don't have an idea of what i'm going to draw... but the end result always makes sense to me. most of my drawings result from a mood that i am in...

i'm an emotional artist.
