Self Portrait

I'm trying to find my "artistic place of residence"... somewhere between the worlds of painting and fabrics/textiles. I'm not yet sure where I will end up. The materials that I use in my sculptural pieces frequently originate as refuse, and so they have to be "dismantled" in some way before being transformed. Sometimes the original objects used are no longer visible or recognizable as parts of a newer form of art. For example, if I use a milk jug and spiral-slice it into several long strings of white plastic, and then braid them together, you may not recognize the plastic as originating from a milk jug. But as a viewer, if you do recognize the material as milk jugs, it is most definitely its own private reward, like a secret mystery being solved.
