Born in Cameroon in 1975,Mohamadou Sani is a gifted young Artist , Cameroon is located in western Africa and often referred to the "hinge of Africa".The country surface is comparable to California and has over 240 tribes.Sani left his homeland to pursue his dream of sharing his painting with the world.Although misunderstood by some,Sani's artwork is highly respected in his country were he was selected to represent his State twice at the Festival National des Arts et de la Culture (FENAC) one of the premier festival held in the entired country.Heather Groth a Peace Corps volunteer who discovered his talend and brought his works to the Festival International de Louisiane were he entered the juried selections process staged by the Artist Alliance and been featured International Artist at the Marche des Arts for his American Premiere in 1999.Sani has been commissioned to create a painting as part of celebrating the Norvegian Missionaries 75th Anniversary of work in Cameroon,this painting is now at their headoffice (NMS) in Norway,another of his artwork have been reproduced for the youth Department on NMS as part of the same Anniversary and used at different camp in 2000.The same year hes was selected Official Artist to illustrated and paint the commemorative picture for the Festival International de Louisiane in Lafayette,the demand and the positive reaction from the public and the critic lead to the purchase of the final painting by the Festival.

Sani Moved to New Orleans where the Inspiration and opportinuty to paint abound.He has been featured artist for many years at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival were he won the Award of best display in 2003 .He took part at public art project Restore the Oaks inititated by the African American Museum of Art,Culture and History and Mayor Marc Morial in 2002.He showed his work in different part of the States .

Sani is a self-taught Artist,as none of the school he attend offered art classes,when asked were the inspiration comes from ,the young man answered " My inspirations come from my dream and sometimes i just need to observe the nature".Each of my painting tell history you just need to observe and listen".Sani's paintings has been discribe as bold ,abstract,primordial.....using watercolor,oil,acrylic....mixed-media wood,glass,paper,canvas,leather,collage.He also use clay and papier mache to create form like mask and so on.

His rich culture,people,serve as well as subjects to his works,some important themes such as spiritual influence of religions,tribal ceremonies,also music are present in his works,as they use to call him and he still the "lord of the dance" you feel that on jazz musicians.He have been forced to close his gallery in New Orleans after Katrina hurricane but haven't give up.
