Self Portrait

I began drawing at the age of seven, by watching the Jon Gnagy show on TV. After graduating high school I was offered a position as a Mechanical Designer/Illustrator in the Aerospace Industry. After five years of evening studies at the University Level, I moved on to other Engineering Drafting positions in related industries, like Nuclear Submarines, and Radar Guided Missiles. Much of the work centered around "Bid Proposal Graphics" for the Pentagon. After several years, I became disenchanted with the industry as a whole. I realized it was time for a career move. At the same time, I was introduced to "Oil Painting" and the love affair with Oils was instantaneous. I signed up for every painting course that I could find: Basic Techniques; Figurative; Composition; Color Theory; Advanced Oils, to name a few. After extensive Footwear Fabrication & Design studies both here and in Florence, Italy, I began my "new career" in the Fashion Industry. After fifteen years of "proving" myself, in Athletic and Casual footwear companies from coast to coast, I became the Director of Design & Product Development for Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Footwear. This required extensive travel to every corner of the globe. It was an excellent opportunity for me to begin amassing a huge collection of photographs and sketches, which I refer to when beginning a new canvas.

Professional credentials have included: memberships in the New Beford, Ma. Photography Club serving as President; The Rhode Island Waterclor Society, the oldest of it's kind in America; The Taunton, Ma. Art Association, serving as a Member of the Board. Numerous awards from both Art competitions, and Juried Photography competitions alike. Invited to judge the annual student fashion competition at the prestegious Parsons School of Design, New York. Favorite exhibition venues over the years, Have included Mystic, Cn.; Newport, R.I.; Cape Cod, Ma., and New Bedford, Ma.

Now retired, I am fully devoted to my art. Painting predominantly Oils and Watecolors, but have also produced fine works in Pastels, India Ink Drawings, and Scrimshaw on whalebone. Special commissions will be accepted with a 50% deposit, upon completion of the preliminary drawing. Past works reside in private and corporate collections in both Italy, and throughout the United States.
