Self Portrait

L. Diane Johnson, has been painting professionally since 1981. She was the Founding Editor of PleinAir Magaizine, and a coveted instructor in the U.S. and France. She began as a classic portraitist, and for over 20 years has concentrated her efforts in landscape painting in acrylic, pastel, and oil.

Johnson is a full member of the Pastel Society of America, She was also a Signature Member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters, Plein Air Painters of The South East, Plein Air Painters of Hawaii, and International Plein Air Painters along with many other professional organizations.

As confirmation of her rapid development as a rising artist, Johnson was selected in 1988 as one of the top 100 emerging artists in the U.S. by the American Artist magazine, selected as a finalist in the 1988 national still life competition held by The Artists Magazine and rated as one of the top 10 best buys for investment art by The Roanoker magazine in 1990. She has received numerous awards for her work, and by 1998 was listed in the Whos Who in American Art, and Whos Who in the South and Southwest. In 2000, Johnson was invited to participate in the first ever White House Conference on Culture and Diplomacy, has authored numerous how-to articles for artists and for collectors, and coauthored a book dedicated to artists marketing their work.
