I was born in Cumbria within sight of the Lakeland Hills and Lakes so have always had an infinity with the surrounding area where I was born, I started to paint in the 1970's where it initially started as a hobby, since then I have painted in different mediums trying to find a style of painting that I enjoy, I found it difficult to try and find time to paint whilst being employed full time, since I took early retirement in July 2005 I now find I have more time to pursue my love of painting.

Having lived in the heart of The Lake District all my life and having had regular visits to Scotland when I was working I had no problem finding inspiration for my subjects, My love of the countryside, mountains and water can be seen in my paintings.
