Animals in Primary

My work boldly combines my two passions: animals and art. My professional and educational backgrounds are equally diverse. While earning my BA in Graphic Arts from Colorado State University I also completed my Riding Instructor's certificate from their renowned Equine Center and took several photography classes. Upon graduating I was able to continue my interest in horses by accepting a riding instructor position at Belvoir Terrace, a fine arts camp for girls in Massachusetts. This experience cemented my love of instructing and led to many further years in the equestrian field.

By 1995 I was yearning to bring art back into my life. In addition to riding and instructing, I began freelancing in graphic design in Portland and later Seattle. By using only two or three colors for most of my graphic design work, I was able to achieve an economical final cost most clients desired. This exploration of a limited color pallet, lead me to the many possibilities of "Animals In Primary".

With my interest in horses I continued to teach riding and noticed the diverse personalities of horses and wanted to share them with others. Through photography and painting I found I could achieve my goal and share those personalities with others who might not otherwise experience them.
