Self Portrait

For the most part, I am a self-taught artist. I grew up in a small town with little to offer. My mother is an oil painter and my father is a woodworker. Both had influence on me. I've always worked with pencil and pastels. In the last 8 years I've started working with computer generated art and only within the last year that I've started working with acrylic.

For the majority of my life art was pushed as a hobby and living in a small town there was little opportunity for art classes. My mother guided me as best as she could. I started drawing at a young age but around the age of 10 put art down. I dabbled in it from time to time, but never really practiced much. At the age of 19 I became pregnant with my first child and picked up drawing again. I put it down again briefly until I started having trouble in my first marriage. My art seemed like an escape.

I went back to school in the summer of 2004 for Computer Programming. I had always said that if I ever had the opportunity to return I would try to develop my skill and hopefully meet my ability. During that time I realized how much I really loved doing art and I've been working on it since. So much so, that I added to my degree plan a BS in Visual Arts.

I've done a little bit of work for a few friends as well as the inside of an album cover for Deadly7th.

Due to hurricane Rita I was unable to return to school, however, it is in the plan one day to return and get my BS in Visual Arts.
