My name is James McDowell. I was born in San Antonio, Texas. I have been an artist my entire life and I have always had an affinity for drawing. My current obsession is with the centuries old art of metalpoint. It is very satisfying to use precious metals to create works of fine art. I am also beginning to discover the joys of sculpture. This started with making cast papers as a way to present my metalpoint work. Incorporating relief work with handmade paper adds another dimension to finished work that I really enjoy.
