Artist Profile: Mark Green is a young dynamic creative who has been creating art for over 15 years. His creativity is spread across his experiences in painting, drawing, pastels, as well as culinary art including cooking and wine collecting.
Green started out as a pastel artist in high school, and attended Southeast Missouri State University majoring in Communications and Fine Arts. There, Green found his Picasso influenced style of abstract representation through shapes and colors using acrylics.
As a successful Advertising Executive, Green has put his creative mind to work in creating strategies, concepts, business ventures, and campaigns. Continuing to work on his passion of Fine Art, Green has expanded and refined his style to an expressionistic approach utilizing oils in a watercolor technique. His paintings are very loose and free flowing with vibrant colors, yet with detail to overall composition and balance.
Born in Coulterville, Illinois, Green currently resides in the city of St. Louis, continuing to paint and create in his loft studio above his home. In addition, Green works with Hanson Entertainment Group in St. Louis as a model and actor for print and television.
Artist Statement: It is amazing to me how little people really understand about the term art. Art can be anything from a poem, to a painting, to a dinner, to a carpenter building a house. As a person who has spent most of his career in the business world, I feel that I bring out a creative side to everyone I meet. This same approach is how I visualize my subject matter when painting.
It is not what you see; it is what it means to you when you see it. That is how I paint. I want to bring every emotion out of that image that is possible. I feel everyone is thinking in ten different directions at all times. That is where the use of motion and colors in my art come from.
I look forward to every day that I can learn from others by studying their styles, desires and inspirations for creating¬ just paintings, but art.
