Leonardo Bjork's Portfolio/Bio

Artists Statement of Leonardo Bjork... 10/5/2005 I was born and raised in a whole family of artistic and creative people and it was always just a natural drive and need to create in one form or another. In my work with digital photographs I like to use a lot of different live models. Often I try to let the image of the model I am working with tell me something or I try to find a storey hidden within it and then bring it out. Though I do sometimes have a theme or idea and then set out to create from it and find a subject that fits the mood or feel that I have for it. As of right now I use nothing more than a digital camera, simple photo editing software called Photo Elements 2 from Adobe, a small Wacom pen and tablet, a small Dell laptop PC, images of the models that either I have photographed and or ones submitted to me through the internet by models that have agreed to pose for my art. I will often introduce many other images into a piece, using either pictures that I have photographed or that have been given to me and sometimes I will scout the inter net for free stock images and such. I will digitally draw or paint along with altering images. Each art piece consist of many layers, the smaller pieces are usually about 17 to 20 layers deep. I find digital photographic art is part of me now, it is a great way for me to create and pretty much my whole work shop fits on my lap. This gives me time to spend many hours on my work. For me my art is a safe way in and out of my head. It is an escape at times but mostly it is a release of thoughts, moods and emotions for me that I other wise cannot express.........

Biographical (2005) Leonardo Bjork... was born 11/17/1964 in Lowell Massachusetts and still resides in Mass. He is a man who just loves to create. Ever since childhood he was always building something or taking something apart to reinvent it. Always working with his hands and mind to this very day. He is now employed as an overhead door mechanic, or as he likes to call it, a Doorologist. He works the average 40+ hour week to help keep bread and butter on the table for his wife, daughter and two sons. After his past years of wild days of youth he has toned down quite a bit now as those days rear up old foolish injuries like bad knees. So now he has more time to spend on his interests in photography and art. Though Leonardo is a great admirer of all sorts of art he always had a bit more passion for photographic art. He has dabbled in photography on an off for some time for his own enjoyment, but often found it to costly to really get into. Now with the change of times and new technology in electronics, photography has come in the grasping range of billions. Though he had his doubts about digital photography and laughed at it probably as much as any film photographer has, he kept an eye on it and watched it grow an improve rapidly. Leonardo eventually had to try it out. He started with some small cheap cameras. Then things started to get better with higher pixels and resolution and it started to make good sense now. Then the SLR digital camera made it feel more like home. Leonardo says; Even though I could never really say digital photography is the same thing as conventional film photography, it definitely has its place in photography and will have just as much respect in given time. Some would say....... Read or hear the rest and see more art at; Leonardo Bjork's Portfolio/Bio
