Summer is finally here, but I'm still enjoying nice cool days that come and go. We've had some nice visits from family, so I haven't been painting as often. I've been setting up some of my many keepsakes for still life paintings. This is one Cheryl Coen and I painted a few weeks ago. My next one will be a study of "whites". The truth is there are many colors other than white to get the right results. It's hard to see unless you look very close.....

We thought snow in March was late......What about 5 inches the first part of May. That's what we had. Broke all records. Was pretty, but gee, give me a break. Crazy weather..... I've uploaded a couple new paintings, and have been out plein air painting every chance I get. "Spring Waters" was the latest I've finished. You'll notice I'm getting looser with my brush strokes or more impressionistic, in comparison to my older landscapes. I'm much happier with the results. I'm starting a new series of paintings "Simpler Times". This is the first of those. I have a few more details to add before I call it finished.

Spring has sprung, and then we get a big snow storm.......Not too unusual for SW Missouri. The farmers are all needing the moisture, so can't complain too much. I'm happy to say MacCreeds Gallery is now open for the summer, and will be showing 4 of my paintings. MacCreeds is located on Hwy 64, just West of Lebanon, MO, approx. 6 miles. It's a lovely little gallery with beautiful art and many handmade gifts and jewelry. Here is one of the paintings. "Samson the Swan". I got the name wrong when I first uploaded the photo.

I just got back from a nice visit to Arizona with my husband, Bob. It was a record cold spell there, which hit us kind of funny, as we told everyone we'd have to come back to the Mid-West to warm up....lol I didn't have time or room to take all my painting gear, as we flew, but I did get some good reference photos for future paintings. Here's one of Lake Pleasant where we used to spend lots of time.

I had a great time at the Big Cedar Lodge Paint Out, just South of Branson in October, even though there were a few cool, rainy mornings. I uploaded a couple videos of my painting at Dogwood Canyon, onto You Tube. The painting needs a little more touch up before I'll call it finished, but just haven't had the energy to get to it. Sometimes I wonder why I'm doing this,.......But as soon as I pick up a brush I get back into my zone, and it all comes back. Here's a preview of the painting.

Come on out if you're in the area. Public reception and Friday's Art Walk, 6pm thru 9pm. I'll have 4 to 5 paintings in the show. This is one: "Country Sunset", 24"x 36".

I received good news. Two of my paintings were accepted to the "Big Show", at the Skyport Gallery, located in the Springfield-Branson National Airport, Springfield, Missouri. "Excitation", and "Early at ArtsFest". They will be on display until August 13th, so hopefully someone will fall in love with them and want to take them home. Family will be flying into the airport for our family reunion in June, so that will be fun.

The new videos with Animoto are fun. Everyone should try it. Tomorrow is suppose to be a nice day, so will leave early for Springfield, to do some plein air painting with Cheryl, an art friend. I won't hear about the Springfield Airport show until the middle of next week. Keeping my fingers crossed that a few of my larger paintings get accepted. Here's the largest one which is 5 foot long.

Bob and I just returned from a trip to San Antonio and Fredericksburg, Texas. It was a little cool and wet, but I managed to get some good photos. I really enjoyed the art galleries in Fredericksburg. They are so inspiring. And good to hear that the art market was still alive in Texas. This photo is from a famous little Texas town, Luckenbach.
