I enjoyed a recent portrait workshop with Michelle Dunaway, from New Mexico. Here is "Jennifer", an 11"x 14", Oil, I'm working on. Just a few more touches and I'll call this one done.

It's been a wonderful summer. Here it is the first day of Fall which is such a great time of year here.......but I'm already dreading Winter which gets here before we know it. So I've been out painting on location as much as possible. The school house is my latest plein air painting. I've got 3 different shows I'm participating in between now and the end of the year. One is a "One Person" show. And another "One Person show" scheduled for next May. So I'm tickled to have all these art events to look forward to. Keeps me out of trouble.....ha.
I love Spring. This is a large painting I'm hoping to get into "The Big Show", at the Springfield-Branson International Airport, Sky Gallery, Springfield, MO. The show will run through the summer months. I uploaded a newer version that's about finished.
Honored to have 2 paintings in the "Hue" show sponsored by Drury University, at their Drury C-Gallery, in Springfield, MO. Reception March 6th, 2015, 6pm to 8pm.
I had a nice morning painting with friends. I think it helps for me to have a time limit (2 hours). That way I don't have time to overwork it. I also like the unfinished look.
I can't believe that cold weather is here already. This was our first snow, and came early for Missouri. Not looking forward to a long Winter. I do have plenty of great photo references to work on though and have some great friends to paint with in the studio.
The dog days of summer have finally arrived. Getting pretty dry, crispy, and hot. This photo was taken last month on a fairly cool day. We have more painting outings planned, but depends on the heat whether I'll venture out. I'm still recuperating from a week with family in Florida. I had fun and great memories made, but hope to go back sometime in the Winter months.
April has rung in with a busy art week. I took 3 paintings for the Springfield Plein Air painters show at "The Library Center", in Springfield, MO. I'll include a photo. Then Friday the Lost & Found Grief Center of the Ozarks requested one of my paintings for their "Operazzi" event. Mine and other artwork will be on display and for sale with a portion of proceeds going to SRO Theatre and Grief Center.
Things are looking a little brighter now as we are starting to get our Winter sunsets and as all the grandkids are thinking about their Christmas lists. This was taken from my front porch. I'm kind of dreading the cold of Winter, but am thankful for a nice warm and cozy home, knowing that so many are not so blessed. I haven't felt inspired to paint, but knowing I have a show the 2nd of January will help to kick start me......I hope! Blessings to all my family and followers this Christmas season. Hugs, Susan
