Heidi Morgan

Philosophy: When photographing subjects, I like to see, depict and explore the lens at different angles. I like to have the cameras depiction invoke in the viewer feelings and emotions. Photography is my passion it enables me to bring life and power to a shot.

I like straight hands on photography. It gives me more freedom to try different points of view and makes use of the camera full potential. This method also provides me with more opportunities to explore the artistic side of my personality and produce an image that has its own essence.

Adobe is another angle I like to explore when I apply various filters to achieve an acid trip kind of feeling. In this way, ones mind can travelthru the image rather than just seeing one layer of the image itself. By applying different filters to the original image, I can expand the horizons of an individual photograph giving it a fuller depth and depiction.

My favorite subjects are fireworks, mushrooms, landscapes and whatever catches my eye at the moment. I like using texture to bring more into a shot and thus getting more out of it.

Education: I took a photography class as the Community College of Rhode Island where I was able to experience dark room procedures. I developed skills on my own by experimenting with different techniques, styles and equipment.

Exhibits: I have two exhibits at the Marie Stiles Gallery of Art in Newport, RI as well as Island Arts also in Newport. 9.03 I had a showing in Slater Park, Pawtucket.

Published works I have been published two times in the International Library of Photography. I had apiece depicting the twilight on a mountaintop with an odd shaped cloud and the other was of a sunset in the mountains with part of the next picture in the same frame portraying the road above the sunset. I have also been published in the Providence Journal Art section and on two slide shows on-line.
