PaulCézanne wrote In a letter to his friend Emile Bernard... "The Louvre is the book in which we learn to read. We must not, however, be satisfied with retaining the beautiful formulas of our illustrious predecessors. Let us go forth to study beautiful nature, let us try to free our minds from them, let us try to express ourselves according to out own personal temperament!"
This expresses perfectly how I feel about art, my work.
I paint my visions, dreams, slices of my life, memories, hopes, silly thoughts and wild expressions. I hope some day when I am not around anymore they will still bring someone joy, happy or solemn thoughts. I want my paintings to be a tangible something, someone will remember me by! I like to dream that someone in the far future looks at one of my paintings and says "Ginette painted this!" I don't want to be forgotten!"
