My life like yours has been full of many lessons, experiences, sensations, influences and people. I cannot hold any one of them individually responsible for who I have become, but a weird and wonderful mixture of them all. Owning a work of art by Francis is accepting that, nothing is ever quite what it seems and interpretation is everything.

Francis

I was born in the North of England in 1972. From an early age I was a firm lover of sketching and drawing, so by early adulthood, art was already a long time love of mine. During the late 80s to early 90s, I attended Art School where I studied fine art, photography and art history. This was where I found my passion for abstract and surrealist styles.

Over the years I remained dedicated to abstract/ non-objective painting and experimented with various mixed media, this created many phases in my work and took me in numerous directions. My style of choice now lies with the use of oils as they allow me the freedom to paint vibrant, surface textured compositions.

I am currently a member of Qsands, a purpose formed community to help artists who believe that the support and experiences of other professionals would be beneficial to their own art practice. This is where I have found additional studio space and the necessary solitude to evoke my creations.
