Self Portrait

American Indian Artist N. Cooke aka RunningSprings started out at the age of five taping her work on the family TV screen hoping her art would get noticed. Cooke sold her first painting at the age of 15 to a fellow art student and had a dream of painting on the sidewalks of Paris one day. Twenty years later she picked up her paintbrush and traveled from state to state on the Powwow Circuit painting children's faces. On the road she saw Woodburning Art for the first time and fell in love with it. Cooke opened up her own shop calling her art “Burning Memories” and she was finally making a living as an Artist. Totally drained of running a business and trying to keep up with orders she decided to once again put her pencil down and go back to the office. Ten more years went by and she found herself wondering what she was going to do now and that's when her wonderful supportive husband gave her a present. It was like seeing an old friend when he handed her a pack of drawing pencils and a sketch pad, she was 5 years old again and someone finally noticed. N. Cooke now works out of her home art studio nestled in the woods with her husband Michael and 27 animals. Who needs Paris!
