To begin with, I was born as a baby and named John. As I grew, I lost that simple feeling of the joys that can be had by simply playing on a beach and building castles out of sand, soon to be washed away and then re-built another day.
I became over-critical and judgmental of others and myself. However, I have since moved on, "mellowed out" and discovered I have a lot to learn in relation to people (as well as myself), and, my art.
I know that it is assumed that a camera can only document the world as it is. But I dont believe that to be true. Thats a bit like saying a typewriter can only print words or, a pencil can only draw lines. As an artist I attempt to create my private inner world and express my feelings towards this wonderful world for all to see. Whilst I can also draw, paint, sculpt and write, I rely very much on my camera, which to me, is my canvas and my avenue to self-expression. And that is why I love my cameras and the world of photography and image making.
So now I am back, simply playing on the beach. For I have realised that we only live in the world when we love it. Then we are truly free.
