Born in Philadelphia in 1952, I grew up doodling and sketching my favorite cartoons until I was about eleven, when I discovered the wonderful world of comics. Elementary school science introduced me to the natural world which I began to sketch around the same time; by the time I was thirteen, however, I had decided that I wanted to design women's clothing. After three diverse years as a high school art major, that desire had not lessened and I attended the Tracey-Warner School of Fashion Design, graduating with a certificate in fashion technology.

I've worked as an embroidery pattern illustrator in children's clothing manufacturing, and a fashion illustrator for a small, local couture firm. While raising three kids, I developed an interest in scale (1"-1') miniatures as an art form, building medieval and Renaissance musical instruments for a time. But networking through a friend brought me nearly full circle, back to my science roots, when a local environmental education center hired me to illustrate an EE program they aspired to publish. This regional EE program, developed by teachers for teachers, encompassed curriculum for grades K through 12, with an emphasis on simple pen and ink illustrations as resource pages.

In recent years, I'd left my art and miniatures on the back burner while life bombarded me with personal distractions and tragedies--the death of my husband of thirty-two years and my discovery of breast cancer and subsequent treatment of same. It is mostly due to the prompting of my artist daughter that I have dusted off the old drawing table and begun my craft anew, hoping to rekindle the magic and rediscover the wonder that first brought me to this place.
