Anuar's paintings celebrate the patterns, textures, and surfaces of rural life, calling our attention to the rich imagery that we too often overlook in our hectic daily migrations. His work captures moments of inadvertent beauty -- the spaces in between Malay houses, the peeling layers of advertisements, the erosion and decay of house facades.
