I recently had an art show in Glastonbury, England (Avalon!) and returned very inspired! One place I visited (twice!) was the ruin of Glastonbury Abbey - the abbey has been rebuilt and destroyed several times over since the 7th century and now stands as beautiful ruins. This is a painting of an angel (in a classic medieval Angel pose) in front of the Abbey ruins -and I've given a nod to St. Michael's tower on the Tor in an imaginary geography version of the layout (you can't really see it from this angle of the ruins, but I thought it'd be kinda of an idealized view of the city). The birds are English Robins - which I learned about after seeing them pictured all over the UK - they are quite different birds than our USA Robins, little and chubby, and are harbingers of Winter rather than our Spring. So I thought it'd be appropriate since this will be kinda of a wintry painting. The fruits & flowers she is holding are the holy thorn of Glastonbury (a type of hawthorn that grows only there). My own original acrylic painting. ©Jasmine Becket-Griffith - prints are available at http://www.strangeling.com and http://zazzle.com/strangeling*
