I wish I had the wit to tell the stories that go with my images. I know there's gotta be one here. What's she doing there? Are these the same people?

Top: I couldn't get the focus to be right in this until I added the sailboats to the wall, making it wallpaper. Then my eye went to the places I wanted it to, even though the background was busier. Funny, that.

Bottom: Drew this first, without the ocean, and then a few days later, added it and its sailboat. Now that I'm uploading this, I'm thinking my subconscious illustrator knows things I don't, else why the same hair color in both? Sailboats in both? OK, maybe for the first it was just 'cause I had a limited pallette.

Derwent watercolor pencils on maruman s160 sketch paper. Original is about 9 cm by 4.5 cm. Yeah, it's really a sketch of sorts (note those crooked boxes), but makes me think a bit about technique and composition. I'm going somewhere. Don't know where yet. But going....
