count me in too. I have no formal training, but just keep on trying.

I'm also a self-taught artist, started at the age of 4, concentrated on graphite, soft pastel, and watercolor pencils until I hit a creative block in my 20's, switched to watercolors for 10 years, and now I concentrate on acrylics. I commend all of us on the fantastic artwork that each of us does without the "benefit" of a degree!

Hello, My name is Weshon and I am another self taught artist here. I love to paint just about anything that comes to mind. I started out drawing but wanted to expand my ideas in paint and have continued ever since.

I’m a self taught digital artist. This means I can’t draw worth a hoot! The computer has always fascinated me. It has taken me for such joy rides thru animation to web development and now photo art. My question is what’s next?

Self taught and my own worst critic.

100% self taught here as well! Some of the very best artist were self taught.

I guess you could say we are some what an explorer!

I also am self-taught. Now I have questions about many things that I would have learned in art school. For instance this portrait of my parents. I feel like I got 90% of what I wanted, but need help with that last 10%. And that last part is the most important part. Well, the struggle goes on.

Hi. Ditto to what most have said on here, self-taught too. What shall I say, I guess we are the self-driven ones who could see the rainbow through the storm, long before the rainbow itself knew it wanted to be there! :-)

I'm a self taught artist, as well as a digital artist. I received training in digital art just touch on it, but through trial an error of my own, I've learned many things. Anything to do with the arts I adore and want to learn more.

I am self taught as well but, have always had a love of anything creative from sewing to cooking to large scale murals.

Self taught artist .. 4 years ago I picked my art back up .. after a 18 hiatus .. Won't do that again ... it's really odd .. I am better now .. much better ... not sure how that happened ... I paint / draw every day now .. trying to break into the big leagues with my art .. starting to happen .. excited ... very excited

Hello. I just found this and I wanted to post a reply because art is such a big part of my life. I took art in high school and loved it. I tried painting a few times since then but not to the extent that I paint now. The funny thing is... I thought that I had to paint on an easel. I'm left handed and I had a hard time trying to paint at an upward angle. So I never did much with it because of that. Then when I lived in Florida, I was given a gift card to a store and I bought all that I needed to get started and the rest is history. Painting for me is by far one of the most important things to me. It is a love, a passion, and a force that definetly drives me.

I was educated in the performing arts and also the mass media arts. this digital art i have taught myself and am always learning. this process appeals to the recluse and loner in me.

I'm self-taught as well... started painting in 2000 on a whim when I received art supplies for Christmas... and just loved it... I've grown and changed a lot since then :)

I have always loved art and done a few drawings off and on since I was a child...

this was my first painting after receiving those art supplies... it's Iris Anne and her cat, Violet :)

I am self taught, I have friends that are classicaly taught one is even an art teacher. My friends are reluctant to teach me anything so that I may find my own style and while it is frustrating I am also very greatfull. Abastracts come no problem but figurative is much harder so I keep teaching,I keep learning and so down the road I go.

Jodi Bilske 10 Jun 2008

Me too, me too... Where I live we don't have access to any formal art training but that's ok, I'm certain to develop my own style. When you're passionate about something you'll always find a way to learn - the internet and places like this are pretty helpful too.

I'm self taught as well. I love drawing and painting, and am always learning! I took art in highschool, but we had an art teacher that gave an assignment, and if you did it you got an A and if you didn't you got an A!

I myself is self taught, I've been painting and drawing and wood caving since I was 10 years old. And been do my own thing for 50 years and still enjoy doing my art. Sure, I work yes raised a family and have Grand kids but. I still love working with my mind and hands. It's GREAT! All I need is light and an ink pen and that's it. Any I can draw in my mind. I can paint. this why I'm here at artwanted is because I'm not alone. I've got fellow natural artist like youreselves. Well I need to get back to my canvas and oil. An AMERICAN COWBOY Merwin King
