What about a mythology contest? Lots of scope for interpretation there.

A friend asked me to draw a scene depicting a song. Specifically a song by the Flamming Lips. I'd never heard of them so he let me listen to the cd and informed me of the story behind it. The theme is roughly: Yoshimi battles the pink robots. Yoshimi is a Japanese girl who is trained in Karati so she can protect her city from the evil pink robots, but one robot develops feelings and a kind of love for Yoshimi and allows her to destroy him. If you look it up on line, a suprising amount of data will turn up. You really don't have to hear the song but if you get the chance you should. It seemed far fetched at first but I thought it might be a challenge and kind of a fun project. I'm doing it regardless.

I agree, we should have several competitions at once, although we do understand artwanted obviously cant afford to give out $50 prizes etc, daily, but i'm sure we can all agree to occasionally have a competition with no prize? If it means we can have more i'm sure that will suit most of us.

how about sculptures or ceramics as a contest. A vessil contest for ceramics the piece must represent an object that can contain other objects. For sculptures something very non functional.

July is a summer month...so how about a contest devoted to summer fun. Anything fun in the sun Contest. No matter what or how. Dancing with sunflowers, beach parties, surfing, or just chilling on a porch drinkin some tea...(it's a southern thing) What ever image captures the essence of summer and reminds us of fun filled days.

higinio alguacil 29 Jun 2005

I would really like to see a horse based contest! That would be really awsome, like Unicorns, Pegasuses, demonic horses(kinda like the ones in LOTR) and normal horses of all sorts of breeds. This would be very appealing to many people I think because you can do horses in MANY different mediums. Did I forget to mentions a knight's horse? Please consider my suggestion.
