How about contests for handicapped art students, and/or people whom are inrolled in first year drawing classes, watercolor or photography or other types of mediums. Perhaps by ages groups, high school seniors or younger? Seniors middle aged? the students will appreciate the help for projects that are required at school, and learn from other artists that had to take these same beginning steps Many artist have helped me with very benficial critiques and encouragement Students would try thier favorite subject matter and then experiment with other mediums, like pen and ink, washes, markers, prismacolor pencils, watercolor, oils, acrylics, etc, perhaps have a teacher give advice even before the art work is set to be judged, so that the student is guided as the artwork is in progress.

Even if they are not actually enrolled in a classroom or senior center or civic center for the artists whom wish to work toward goals of better art Understanding, art techniques, change their line of work to involve to another media, perhaps explore other subject matter? like painting underwater life, or still lifes, abstracts, or commercail type art

I was thinking a 'student' contest and

I think there is merit in the 'collaboration' idea but my idea would be something like give a word such as ummmmm 'ego' and get people to interpret it in whichever way they wish

starting with a concept rather than a subject or style takes it across many mediums and interpretations.....

What about " You as your favorite super-hero" contest? each artist takes a superhero and the artists own likeness, and combines them on a makeshift comic book cover.

Or making a contest every month for a calendar, like we did for the Garden (the theme was inspired by the month of course):

draw yourself as a cartoon character, must provide picture of yourself with entry to prove its you, or the pic your'e drawing from.

I think a good contest would be "shape" or "form"... the elements of art- that way all artists have equal chance to enter. sometimes the contests dont appeal to every artist. With these broad, but universal subjects, i think there wuld be alot of entries, from many types of artists here.

Greetings To You,

I love artwanted.com and am so glad to be a part of it. I am new though, so I cannot quite figure out how the contests work. Is there a contest going on right now - as of Monday, May 30, 2005?

Because art work on the web is relatively new (internet being around for what - 10 years) - as well as sophisticated art software like I use (Jasc, Corel Paint, some Photoshop) I call my art that I do using the software - NEW AGE ART (because medium is new). Maybe NEW AGE ART can be a theme for a contest.

Many thanks for reading. Please reply if you have contest information to share with me.

Lynn
