Gail, This piece is 20" x 26" unframed. It is 100% black ballpoint pen (your typical BIC disposable pens). No wash. I don't try and explain what it all really means, nor do I want it's true meaning exposed. That, as they say, is for me to know and for you to try and figure out. I also did some painting, not on paper, but on automobiles. 5 years of insurance claims and 1 year of custom paint (airbrushing murals). Art, to me, is a release of frustration. I do not attempt, nor have I, attempted to sell any of my art (with the exception of being a licensed tattoo artist for 2 years, that art, was priced by my boss). I honestly use my self-taught talent for purely my own satisfaction. Don't get me wrong... I like to share it, but I don't care whether or not I get praise! By the way... What did you mean... I should do writing as well?

Brian I do not like the drawing, it does nothing for me. But I can appreciate your skill. You have a great deal of talent and tremendous skill with ink. I am sure I would perhaps like other subjects you would do. Keep up the good work.

I never saw it to comment in the original post, but it looks stunning framed. Terrific work.

Thank you Minnie and Chris. Minnie, perhaps you may like other things I've drawn in my portfolio. It's not all dark and gloomy.

Brian, i meant that reading your post was as entertaining as looking at your art - you might want to keep a journal anyway -

and i had another thought. a few of my pieces have been painted with specific things in mind - a simple explanation if needed. but then, after looking at them for months, i'd start seeing other things that i'd subconciously put in there.

i don't think that the DISCOVERY process of a painting is just for the viewer - sometimes it happens to the painter as well. understanding your own art is like translating a dream - sometimes the meaning doesn't appear right away.

I might be looking to sell this piece... never tried selling my art before. Any tips on pricing a piece?

Hi Brian, i know where your comming from when you said your time is limited. I to worked in a factory and some of my art has taken a few months to years to complete. Your picture is fantastic. I love it.Cindy

Brian Wingender 23 Feb 2013

Thank you Cindy!

Put a number on it that you think sounds good. That's about it for pricing. If you put $20 on it, you know you worked forever on it and won't be happy with $20. If you put $1000 on it and someone pays that, you'll be very happy, i imagine. There's no market standard except what people pay is what people pay. Especially for something that unique.

Aww, you're done. This is the time to enjoy our compliments, no more opinions needed - unless you want to color it? Could take three more years! Fantastic, sell it to Stephen King for a book cover!

It makes me think of the Illuminati or some other conspiracy. Great composition and very well executed.

Caia Matheson 26 Apr 2013

I love the story. Congratulations on your Exhibition selection as well.

I like it, although it could be a little too much. But then again I am simply thinking about it in the wall art of a person's house aspect.

Awesome work. I love the Key theme. I'm a bit obsessed with keys and keyholes as well. It doesn't matter how long it takes. I just finished a piece I started in 2007. Mood swings galore. The important thing is to finish strong; which you did big time!

Brian Wingender 27 Oct 2013

Thank you, Doug. I appreciate the compliments!

That looks fab! Great work, I understand it must have been frustrating at times trying to complete work, I know that feeling well, but its always worth it in the end! I had a similar feeling with my painting x
