Sailing ship Passat

Sailing ship Passat The sleek ship once belonged to the fleet of the famous Flying P-Liner. It was built by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg for the grain and at a cost of 680 000 Salpetertransport Goldmark On Christmas Eve of 1911 was the "Passat", for the Laeisz the first trip from Hamburg to Cape Horn to Chile. With a favorable wind, they sailed up quickly to 18 knots and defied then the emerging competition of steamships. In 1951, the "Passat" in a freight-carrying training ship rebuilt and received a 1000-hp engine. In 1957 she fell on the way home from Montevideo in a heavy storm and had to enter with whipped side in Lisbon. As the sister ship "Pamir" had recently perished under similar circumstances, was the "Passat" decommissioned. Oil on canvas

Lovely and technically perfect rendition of a "Ship Rigged" vessel on the high seas ! Special credit to you, for knowing how the rigging and sail plan should look, Great Work Joern !
