This painting, measuring 35 by 50 cm excluding the frame, was stolen from a jewish art dealer by the nazis in 1941. It was later recovered in Russia, together with a large number of artworks by the same artist. The painting is signed and dated 1632 and has survived in rather good condition, except some minor damages to the contemporary gilt frame. A rather charming scene, and the young cat woman might be one of Felix´s sisters whom the young artist exchanged letters with during his stay in Holland. This piece is mentioned in the excellent book "Animal Art after the fall of the Berlin Wall" by Birger Eimheim. The artwork is now in a private collection in Norway. Sold
