Orange Poppy Delight

I spotted some beautiful poppy flowers as I waited for my husband at the doctors. I wandered out and over to get some stock photos for my paintings. This is the first of the paintings, more to come soon. I am experimenting again with a different brush style a bit than before. This is not a manipulated photo or a result from some auto convert a photo into a painting software. I painted this flower, after drawing it, using an electronic graphics tablet, a Wacom that hooks to your computer. You use the wireless drawing stylus pen instead of a mouse. Using Corel's Painter X art software, I pick the medium I want to use, i.e. oil, pastel, chalks, watercolor, airbrush, pen, marker, acrylic, etc., the size of brush to use, the amount of flow, pressure, shape, transparency, for example. I chose the colors, mix colors that I want to blend, and more. I love that I am in control, and can often create new brushes of my own to reuse later. I can mix mediums such as oils and watercolor that I could not normally do with real mediums to create new looks such as photo realistic paintings. This painting is not one of the photo realistic ones, just a pretty flora, with a looser style. I hope you like this one as well as some of my other flowers.

like a cradle for the sun, the petals outstretched inviting and open to love. Excellent work!

Artist Reply: Oh, so poetic Christina! You see flowers as I do! They so reach out to me when I see them. Kind of dangerous to walk behind me near any gardens. I am proneto sudden stops to stare and smile. Worse if I've a camera on hand, I've got to take reference photos. This one and more I am planning to do came from a doctor's office parking lot. They were planted around the curb. I had to take my camera up a long narrow road garden road divier to get enough photos for the paintings. I was lucky it was not a busy time of the day, so didn't have to dodge cars.
