Witman

My name is Jerry Stith and I am Founder of a new American Folk art program called BallPoint Pen Art. A ballpoint pen is the most used writing or drawing instrument in history. Bic Pens just published that they have sold one hundred billion pens and they are only one company!***** My BallPoint Pen Art program is introducing ballpoint pens as a new art instrument to this world because it is the largest undeveloped art medium in history! Pen and Ink has been around fore about four thousand years and a ballpoint is the most popular or sold pen of them all. Introducing that instrument is new worth and historical event plus places me in art history. Needless to say, that is fantastic and something my I will do the rest of my life.***** This green Walt Witman portrait demonstrates what the ballpoint pen can produce. I really like what a solid dark blue background does along with the other colors because they add power, beauty or uniqueness of this picture. Presenting different colors and styles also advances what I am doing worldwide or at this forum. I think different colors are much more exciting than b&w plus much a lot more fun or adventurous!***** I love newness, exploring, variations and bold rich colors within the art world or my works. I also like changing styles instead of imitating a camera like many other people regularly do! I worked from life for decades and find variations much more satisfying or progressive. What do you think?***** My God bless each and every one of you, amen.

Excellent!! You know Ball pint pen was invented by an argentine! His name was Biro, and he invented the Birome, that was the very first ball point pen. :)

Walt Whitman's most famous work, "Leaves of Grass" seems to be captured here, Jerry, in your expressive style and the vibrant, fertile green that you have so deftly tinted him with. Believe it or not, I did a w/c portrait of him when I was in HS. That was a long time back. ;)

Nice, thoughtful pose. The choice of color, a cool color, is unexpected and a tad shocking, just like the subject himself. The orange highlights in the hair are perfect. You went with blue, rather than black, for a background which softens the look. Interesting treatment and subject.

This is great work! I also have used the ballpoint for many of my works...It's not classical or anything but frankly I enjoy the ability too go soft in places and dark where needed with the same pen. I'm suprised someone else has found that out and has used it to such great effect!

I love your art and the fact that you give credit to the Creator...Incredible work and Yes! the dark blue backgrd adds an air of eternity to this portrait...I love your control of this difficult tool...one must know their subject when using a pen such as this for there is no erasing, is there...hehehehe...this media is much more challenging than most and I think you have Mastered it beyond reproach...Amen!!! to you too Dear Man!!!
