Mrs. B. Gets a New Heart (2005)

A former patient recently died. I can not go into medical details for privacy reasons, but she needed a new heart she could not receive and died at a young age. I thought to depict her in glory, with a new heart, the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This painting was accepted in the 2006 Southeastern Juried Show at the Mobile Museum of Art, Mobile, Alabama.

A very moving story..but to be thought of in an artistic way can only be seen as a positive proof of one's own humanity.Very nice balance!

Hello David! How's things? This is a very touching and poignant painting but it's powerful and saintly simultaneously. True to the style of a religious painting executed by the old masters it has a messianic quality. I like the way the way you've represented Justice blindfolded. There was, it seems, no justice for Mrs. Bouchie as she makes the ultimate sacrifice..............her life! Brilliant, meaningful picture. Love it!

This is lovely David ...nice that you found a way of making this feel right to you as you have obviously been affected by her death.

I have mixed feelings about this - not sure what to think.
