This is a 29"x41" watercolor that was completed in 1991. Lotta's Fountain is a San Francisco landmark at the intersection of Geary Kearny and Market streets. It was donated to the citizens of San Francisco in 1875 by Lotta Crabtree, a celebrity of the old West who began her career at age 6 dancing in the mining camps in the gold country. Her fame grew throughout the late 19th century, and she eventually becoming one of America's most popular performers. After the 1906 earthquake the fountain became famous as a meeting place and bulletin board for families and survivors. At each anniversary of the '06, the quake Survivors still gather at the fountain f for reunions. . Lotta's fountain was restored in 1999.
