oil on canvas 100cmx160cm January 2002 Her little fingers are playing with the row of round clear purple stones hanging around her neck.. Laras, my five year old daughter, is wearing the amethyst necklace that used to belong to my mother.,it was my mother's favorite stone.. Amethysts, are the stones of the friendship goddess, the peace goddess.. so naturally if you wear it, it is said that you will be calm and have a peaceful nature.. My mother needed to wear that stone, for she was a character, admired and feared by many... and loved by more.. I miss my mother.. My mother and I got along very well, we would talk about a lot of things, even silly things that happened daily.. I would feel something was missing if I didnt meet or at least call her everyday.. But I would refrain from telling her when somebody or something is hurting me (especially somebody), for like a mother lioness she will charge blindingly to defend her cub (I am forever her cub), who is wrong or right is never a consideration to her.. So she never knew of my pains.. I hope she didnt know.. Laras looks at me with her all knowing five year old eyes.. for a slight moment.. its as if she is looking through my mother's eyes, soothing me, understanding me.. making me feel strong.. I will look for you when I get there..in the beautifull afterlife.. Current mood: pleased Current music: "I'm not your avarage girl" by India Arie
