Traffic

This painting was inspired by the heavy traffic and high density of buildings and activity in a large city. I currently live in Toronto and was born there. While the crowded streets with their mix of pedestrians and activity are vibrant and allow for many ideas to flourish and create optimism. Underneath there lies a kind of frenzy associated by the level of noise and congestion. The constant movement, activity and tension underneath can breed anxiety and depression to those who pick up the energy around them. It can be both energizing but also overwhelming.

I really like the texture you achieve in your work Laura, I'm always drawn to artwork inspired be city activity and architecture. I see the city connection in this certainly, also a quilt flavor to this. Nicely done....

Artist Reply: HI Vicki! Thanks so much for your compliment! I love making art with an elevated texture and a 3D quality. I also love architecture! Thanks for your kind comment!:)
