koi creation

This is a big painting on 3D canvas using thick luscious oil paint. At first glance it looks like one of the Damien Hurst splash pictures but then when you look closer you see it is actually a group of koi fish in a spiral with the water patterns distorting some of their features. I painted this because I find it fascinating how koi fish casually form shapes and patterns apparently by accident that last seconds only. I swear that sometimes they spell out letters so it was not a leap for me to paint them in a spiral which commonly means 'creation'. I find koi fish beautiful and it is no surprise to me that they are virtually sacred in Japan.
