Saraswati Playing Veena

Inspired by my recent trip to India, here is a painting based on Hindu devotional imagery of the goddess the Hindu goddess Saraswati! Companion to Brahma and goddess of knowledge, music, arts & science - I've shown her playing her traditional instrument, the Veena (and a majestic peacock - which I saw roaming wild all over in urban areas as well as the countryside!). In India I saw a lot of Hindu devotional artwork - often popping up in the strangest places, on the backsides of trucks, in advertisements and music videos, in temples, posters plastered onto alleyway walls - all so lovely. My original acrylic painting. My original acrylic painting. Prints available at http://www.zazzle.com/strangeling* and http://www.strangeling.com

I totally agree with the comments of praise below and I have to add that she has the ultra-sweetness of a Kewpie-doll, but suffused with a soulful substance and dignity all "wrapped up" in one and the same image - superbly done!!
