Mackinac Island c. 1890 Black & White Study

This is a Photoshopped image of a sketch I did for a series on Northern Michigan. The completed painting is in mt Miniatures gallery. I had just purchased my first Mac and was trying to see what sort of wondrous things I could accomplish with digital imaging software. I was attempting to block in the positive space with Photoshop. I accidentally came across it after having lost it for about eight years on my hard drive I thought it had sufficient intrinsic artistic merit to post it and share it with all of you. Hope you enjoy it.

it's fun to play in Photoshop - i like the half-done effect

Great sketch Stanton, Don't understand all the software "lingo" of the sketch but it is great.. I'm a Michigander through and through... Joanie Holliday

Great job, Stanton! Architectural subjects always pose a distinct challenge and you have met it and conquered it! :-)

Great sketch and work.

Artist Reply: THanks Ingrid. THe completed work is in my miniatures gallery. In case you are interested. The greens in the completed work are little garish, but it is Northern Michigan after all, if you've never been there you would be amazed how lush and verdant that part of the USA is.
