The painting started from a small idea on a scrap of paper and developed. I have uploaded the original sketch to my blog area and briefly discussed the process. This is a 16 by 12 inch acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas. Original Jones Art.
Awesome Charles... the eyes in this one are really cool ~
Artist Reply: Thanks, Mark! Yes, I always think the eyes are an important element in many of my pieces. Hope you are doing great; I know you are keeping busy. :)
That's a Great Pose,Charles!Very Noble,In Perspective,Even WITH a Dark Cloud!
Artist Reply: The scrap sketch I used was tiny and b/w, so everything had to develop on the fly. I did accentuate that chin and jawline. And the dark cloud was an afterthought. I thought it required the 'trademark.' ;) Hope you are drawing up a storm today.
Magnificent work Charles!! I love the colors you work with!
Artist Reply: Folks gravitate to color, I think, Dawson - Lynn, even if they do not necessarily toward style or subject. I think that, like Van Gogh's, you should notice a piece of mine from across at least two galleries at the National Gallery. ;) Hope you are doing great things today.
I would have difficulty working on such a small scale. I like your use of color.
Artist Reply: Actually, Stanley, the 12 by 16 inch canvas is a step up from the 11 by 14's I've been doing. It takes me long enough just to do these, though I do want to 'graduate' to 16 by 20's. :)
